Weekend Wrap-Up

This past weekend was our 6th weekend away from Nate. Weekends just aren’t the same when he’s away; even when we have a weekend pack with things to do. Oh well, we make do - only 20 something more weekends to though!

Friday night Cassie had us over and we did what we do best -l ots of talking, laughing, and playing with Baby Gavin (Kirsten and Gavin were over too :) ). Grayson and Colton played Mario Bros. - like always. Grayson had been so great the whole night until he was time to leave. I swear he was a 2 year old all over again. Nate got to call him Friday night and that seemed to help a little; I hate making excuses but I guess he’s just acting out due to the changes in the house the last couple of months.

Saturday night we attended the “We Salute You” concert the Combat Center put on. It was a great night. Julianne Hough and Joe Nichols were the performers and Grayson and I were able to meet with them, get a few autographs, and some pictures with them. I’ve never seen Grayson so happy before, well… maybe during homecoming last year. :) His attitude had done a complete turn around from the previous night. THANK THE LORD!

Sunday was a complete and total lazy day. Grayson let me sleep in - love it when he lets me do that. Other than heading to the commissary (grocery store) I didn’t do much. Cassie and Luke did come over. Luke helped me with my swamp cooler because for some reason I just couldn’t get it to work. I don’t know what I would do without their help during this deployment. I just thank God for watching over us that way. Once they left it was time for me to say good bye to some of my most trusted friends I’ve made in the last 6 years - Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke, Hurley, Charlie, Sayed (sp?), Sun, Jin, Claire, and even Ben - people think I’m crazy for being “obsessed” but the show really was amazing. I read a great quote last night and it sums it all up; “I never understood trekies until I became a Lostie”. You will be missed, ‘Lost’. I’m going to watch it again soon, I’m also going to get the 5th season and as soon as the 6th comes out, then while Nate is gone I plan on watching it all from the beginning to the end. What can I say ‘Lost’ is my “comfort food” during this deployment. J

Sunday night wasn’t just a nigh to be sad though, I was able to talk to my amazing husband from about 2:00 pm until 10:00pm, via email, but it was great. I hate bringing it up though because I have so many friends that don’t get that opportunity while their husbands are gone, or get that opportunity at all anymore. So if you ever wonder why I don’t talk about hearing from him that’s why. I just choose to be respectful because I know how it feels.

That’s all for now

-J
